Probably the best laid out of the archaeological sites in Cyprus. Well signed, with plenty of smooth(ish) paths and walkways. It's well worth a visit if you have any interest in history. Some of the buildings are under covers, so the sun / rain isn't a problem. Although it's on top of a hill and can be very windy. More

Ancient Kourion should be at the top of your list of things to do while in Cypress. It sits above Kourion Beach and Episkopi Bay fifteen minute west of Limassol. Get there early to avoid the crowds. I was the only tourist there from 8:00 - 10:00. Ancient Greek and Roman sights are situated throughout the one square mile site.... More

A "must" if you are in Cyprus and have a minimun interest in archaeology. The theatre is awesome, best in the island, and the whole site is very interesting. For the roman stadium and the Apollo Ylatis Sanctuary you have to take the car. Tip: included in a €17 pass that you can only buy at the Nicosia Archaeological Museum... More

Curim is about 1.5hr drive from Larnaca and very close to Limassol. The archeological site is huge place with house of achilles and the amphitheatre as the main attraction. Here you can see the ancient roman houses and mosaic tiled floorings. There are a couple of hillocks, and the view from them is simple breathtaking. We spent sometime on the... More

Kourion, also called Curium is the site of Roman Temples, tombs and mosaics. Entrance fee very reasonable. Situated on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean it affords spectacular views and is a very photogenic site. You need a car to drive just beyond Limassol to the West. Nearby Tavernas offer refreshments. In the summer you can swim in the sea, take... More

I have watched over the years as this ancient site has developed into an outstanding exhibition! I have sat in the amphitheatre almost exactly where a Roman parked his bottom! The thought that the view from there is almost as it was then is thrilling. It can be a bit rocky underfoot so take some proper walking shoes with you.... More

Most of this extensive site is out in the open and so you need to take with you plenty of water. I was with my 80 year old parents who are a little unsteady on their feet and so they stayed near the 'centre' where there are good undercover refreshment facilities/shop. When I returned from my 'explorations' they said it... More
