These are some of the oldest and biggest man-made structures in the world. As such they are impressive. The visitor experience however, is not. A few info-plaques is all, if you're not part of a tour, and no guidebook or audioguide available. They are building a visitor center at the moment, so hopefully things will be bette soon, but right... More

This is a UNESCO world heritage site and entry is included in the Heritage Malta pass. Otherwise it's 5 euros. The temples are on the south side of Xagħra, on Gozo. If you're driving there, the signs, like many in Gozo, are fine a few miles out but disappear when you get close. It's on a bus route, so stick... More

We visited Gganjita whilst on a hop on hop off bus tour of Gozo. I had already planned to see these ruins as part of our trip and the bus drops you off right outside the entrance. The site is small but the entrance price is only 5 euros. A short walk takes you straight to the ruins and although... More

These megalithic temples date from 3,000 B.C. - 4,000 B.C. years, older than the Egyptians pyramids. One asks himself how could the Stone Age people move these huge stone slabs. The answer lays close by, in the huge stone balls , that were used as wheels by the builder, who displayed impressive artistic skills in their decorations.

The temples are in a beautiful spot fairly high up with sweeping views of the gorgeous Gozo countryside. They were described by our guide as being the oldest standing temple, and over 5000 years old. It is amazing, along with Malta's other neolithic temples and the ancient people managed to build these well before the pyramids and Stone Henge. My... More

The so-called 'Temple' remains at Ggantija are definitely worth a visit. Although the Mesolithic remains are not extensive, and their condition is poor, they are at least NATURAL unlike those at Tarxien which have modified and ruined. Your admission ticket includes a windmill nearby that is old but not very complete. Ggantija is very atmospheric and a bit mysterious because... More

I was really looking forward to seeing this - the photos I had seen of the sculptures and architectural details like the swirls looked amazing. Maybe my experience would have been different if the entire area was accessible, but the larger of the two temple areas was closed for restoration. What we saw mainly looked like a pile of rocks.... My family and I enjoyed visiting the temple while visiting Gozo. The site itself is rather small and requires only a short visit; however, I highly recommend visiting. To think that the temple has existed for several millenia is just incredible - and I read in a guide book that it was constructed before the introduction of the wheel (archeologists... More

Went to this place in a group tour. Did not realize how precious and historical is this place until I read more. Suggest that there are more background/info/description at the site. For visitors who do not appreciate such treasures, they can easily just think that it is another ancient site. The entire area is rather small and the structures all... More
