We had booked it with a tour that went many places. yes you have to just go there,..but with a tour. You don't want to miss some of the wonders of Iceland. You would regret it.
Laugardalur is a lovely place in the heart of Reykjavik. On first sight it hosts a family entertainment park and a small zoo for younger children. It also has an indoor skating ring and thermal pools (natural for show and contemporary for swimming). There is a sport center, spa, resturants and art galleries in the area. I have enjoyed all... We visited the park several times as we stayed in a guesthouse nearby. The park is lovely and well maintained. It is not a touristy place and is used mostly by locals. Botanical garden (free entry) is lovely, and we loved Cafe Flora. There is also a little zoo and a nice playground (paid entrance), my young son enjoyed them.... More
This is a huge park on the outskirts of Reykjavik that houses some sports complexes as well as the botanical gardens (free admission) and a small zoo/amusement park. There is a lovely cafe in the botanical gardens as well.

This is a very nice place where to take a stroll. There's an animal farm park, with some attractions. There are actually some seals too. The café though is a MUST. Very nice meals, to be eaten indoors or outdoors. There's a pool with fishes and water lilies (the only place in the hole country where I've seen water lilies)

On the northwest end of the Laugardalur (near the Hilton) is one of the better hot spring pool facilities in Reykjavík. We... More
