You'll know where you are in Reykjavik just based on whether you can see this church or not. It's definitely a landmark. The outside is really cool - and huge! The organ inside is a site to see. The best part, though is going to the top and looking out. It's cold and windy at the very, very top (which is... More

We were staying opposite the Hallgrimur and I never got tired of looking at it. Early evening is the best time to take photo's as they Illuminate the spire and it looks like delicate lace. The organ is played at midday and you can purchase home made soup after not too sure about the summer months. You can also purchase... More

A very modern looking Lutheran church at the highest point of Reykjavik city centre. Didn't go in, just took some photo from the outside. Kinda like a landmark, a 'been there, done that' sort of tourist spot (not even very touristy)

Definitely worth a visit - the church as a modern feel to it, and whilst not ornate with stained glass in the traditional fashion, the super curves & roof make it spectatular. For a marvellos view, pay the extra to go up the tower. Be warned it can be extremely windy, as it was for us, the cold wintery wind... More

Might want to time your visit according to your potential reaction to the clock chiming while you're up the top behind the clock faces.

If for no other reason than to ride up to the tower, this is a must see early in to your visit. The tower ride fee is minimal. Good overall view of Reykjavik. Puts things in perspective and provides a great landmark. The organ is amazing and we were lucky enough to hear a rehearsal.

A landmark place to visit. Try doing it as we did and go up the tower as we did on a frozen blowy day. Particularly after a night out. We were lucky there was a major organist tuning up for a gig (right term for an organist?) so we got to hear the full range of the organ.

This is a truly Beautiful Building - I thought it was actually a cathederal. Definately worth a close up look, but can be seen from many parts of Reykjavik

As I 've stayed at the Sunna Guesthouse several times, I've had many opportunities to view this church. It's impressive in size, in simplicity and in beauty; a wonderful example of 'less is more'. It's definitely worth a visit when you're in Rejkjavik.
