Lovely boat trip across. Unusual island but going into the Volcano crater quite an experience. Interesting to walk through. as our tour was late in the day we had the crater to just our trip. sunset cruise back to Kardamena.

Nisyros is worth a look if you are nearby for a visit to it's volcano. It is only 25 Euro to rent a car for the day and you would not need more than 5 liter of petrol to see the entire island. If you go before 10, you are likely to miss the tour bus crowds; we had the... More

We entered this small vulcanic Island at the harbour of Mandraki, a group of small white houses with flat roofs, pretty romantic to watch. The lunch in one of the many restaurants was a disappointing experience, the meat was way too fat and the service bad. But for the rest we enjoyed our stay at Nysiros. We walked along the... More

We did not visit Nisyros as part of an organised tour, but made our own way there. This turned out to be a good idea, as it was cheaper and more direct to do so. We caught a boat from Kardamena to Nisyros and when the boat docked, got onto a coach for a trip to the volcanic crater. This... More

This was the best day of our holiday. I loved the boat ride over, the trip up the side of the volcano. Niseros village is gorgeous, really authentic with a stunningly beautiful wee church, white buildings and a few nice wee family restaurants and taverns. The walk down into the crater is a bit steep as you'd expect but I... More

We sailed from Kefalos early morning to this idylic island of sulphur ,smoke and volcano. We took about 1 and 3/4 hours to reach this little part of Greece we fell in love with.A coach took us up to the vast crater which was grumbling and bumbling with volcanic matter. One could walk down into the crater, keeping to a roughed out path.Up... Something a little different on a holiday to Kos. You can see the sulfur and gasses venting out the ground. Truely immense.

The perimeter and the harbors are very quiet and laid back, but the volcano crater itself can get busy during the summer months. This is an excellent island for walkers, and it's a hearty walk from the shore to the crater. Solid shoes are a must, and try to avoid eating anything at the rather ordinary cafetaria in the crater.... More

Nissyros is one of my favorite small islands, still not that spoiled like the bigger neighboring islands. But the biggest attraction is the Volcano, or better to say the Crater. Also traditional villages and unspoiled nature. If you are in this part of Greece, definitely pass by Nissyros. Even one day stop is worthy!
