An interesting insight into the story of Madeira including the Aquila Airways flying boat service that brought holidaymakers from Southampton in England in the 1950s. More

An interactive museum, with lots of interesting facts and stories. A great way to spend a couple of hours and get an overview of Madeira and its history. Could be a bit cramped if full but on the day we visited there were only a few people about. More

A rather quaint little museum that gives you a good grounding in the history of Madeira. It really is a quick self-guided tour but the exhibits are well thought out and in chronological order which makes for fun pop quizzes! They are slightly obsessed, as everyone on the island appeared to be, with Churchill. Very enjoyable overall. More

Acceptable museum, short child friendly journey, mostly on one floor interactive guides and figurines outlining Madeira's history. OK but steep! More

In the middle of a lot of good traditional restaurants, you can find this story center, where you can learn all the history of Madeira. If you don't want to go inside, you can enjoy the souvenir shop with a lot of interesting things to buy. More

probably more suited to children than adults with lots of interactive stuff for them. overpriced for what it is now but looks like they plan to add more. top tip, nip around the back and have a look at the street of painted doors. More

Don't be put off by the inappropriate display outside. This is a superb museum with something for everyone. I am writing to the story centre (what a silly dumbed- down title) to complain that the advertising is in the wrong hands. More
