It was a hot day, so we decided to walk the Ramparts in the shade of the trees, We came to the Lille Gate, where so many young men left to go to war, never to return. Original signage on the gate, A Cosy Pub, with excellent beer and an entertaining 'Ramparts Museum'. But the jewel is the CWGC Ramparts... More

Went here on my solo bicycle tour of Belgium and the battle fields of WWI and WWII, and was overly impressed with this piece of history.

cemetery fits as part of the rampart walk, and is a most beautiful spot for those soldiers resting there. There are many much bigger and 'more important' war cemeteries around the area, especially Tyne Cot and Messines Ridge, but in it's context the Ramparts Cemetery is peaceful, special, and well worth a few minutes of your time.

We stayed at the Novotel Hotel and walked the Ramparts to the cemetery from the hotel. Such a picturesque tranquil walk. No more to say!!

This cemetary is situated on Iepers ramparts, and is a peaceful & thought provoking place. Brave young men aare buried here, and they represent a lost generation. The location, overlooking the water, is lovely.

A walk on the ramparts from the Menin Gates and read the information boards about the defences is worthwhile. At the end of the 1100 metre walk you reach the small well kept (as usual) cemetery. Worth a stroll.

This beautiful and peaceful British army cemetery is on top of the city ramparts built by Vauban, the great French military architect. There is something remarkably moving and appealing about British war cemeteries.

This was the first ww1 cemetery that we saw - visited many in Northern France & Belgium on our trip. This relatively small one contains some Aussie graves and is memorable simply because it was our first experience of a ww1 cemetery in Europe. It's quite close to the centre of town - easy walking distance.

Ramparts Cemetary is, in my mind the most beautiful War Cemetery we visited. Perched on the edge of the rampart, overlooking the moat it is so serene. We too visited on a very cold day in mid January. Early morning with thick snow on the ground, a heavy fog over the moat and the sun trying so hard to peek... More
