Displays were wonderful. makes you envy your grand parents furniture. Also had displays from Gent's past. Very enjoyable

Visited here in 2012, had walked past many times but never ventured in, one rainy day in Gent we did, was pleasantly surprised, a really nice blend of old and new, well worth the trip and entrance fee
To keep the kids interested there was a 'search for the playmobil' quiz - just pictures so language no problem - and it kept our daughter well amused while we had time for a proper look around.,
The best of design through the ages, in a fascinating setting. Great value entry fee, especially if you are over 55.
We had a lovely hour wandering around the museum. Lots of 20th century items. Would recommend this museum. Even better we got reduced tickets for being over 55!
It is breathaking to see the part of historical heritage of Design, how it evolves, shape our lives from the past to the present and contirbutions of designers
On our second day in Ghent, after spending the morning walking through the Cathedral and St. Niklaas Church and lunch on the Graslei, we sought out the Design Museum. With its many delightful pieces of furniture and 18th to 20th century ceramics and the like, it was a nice change of pace, a real palate cleanser of a museum.

but the rest of the collection didn't do it for me. seemed more like a collection of wannabe design that is interesting because someone said it is. none of it lit a spark in me... but the building itself is very nice and worth a visit.
