We took the tram to the end of the line and visited this cemetery. As we traveled up the hill, the snow cover became thicker. Upon getting to the final tram stop it was a peaceful and quiet snow covered landscape. The lake and city were just visible below. There were only a few other people visiting the graves. James... Take the 6 line to the end, exit and walk down the street, enter on the left. Gorgeous cemetery. Just stunning. Once you enter, walk straight back and you'll find James Joyce's final resting place. Be sure to visit more than just his grave, the rest of the cemetery is gorgeous with some impressive and unexpected tombstones. Whimsical flights of... More

Final resting place for Irish author James Joyce, German actress Thererse Giehse, German novelist Elias Canetti and many others. The cemetery is peaceful with many beautiful statues and monuments. Fluntern is no Pere Lachaise but an easy and enjoyable excursion. Easily accessible from Tram 6 (direction Zoo)
