The art is very interesting, but often not as interesting as the stories of the artists themselves. This place is much larger than it appears, we spent a whole morning exploring it, and ran out of energy by the end. Recommended

This museum is really fascinating. The only one where I read all the comments about artists. Seems king of small but finally, you'll be there for like 2hours. They have a huge collection. Only problem : parking. Don't go when there's a festival, you won't be able to park anywhere. Otherwise, there's a parking 300 before the museum.
Different stuff! A good choice of material. Several floors of exhibition. We did not see many other visitors.
An extraordinary voyage in a very beautiful museum. You will see the pieces of different artists who have developped their talents "hiding" from the society or from the normal art channels.
The Art Brut museum houses art from the weird and wonderful. Most of the artists have suffered from some sort of mental or psychological problems, which makes it a fascinating insight into art as a therapy. Collections are accompanied by French and English descriptions of the artists and their lives, to give you context. My favourite museum in the world!
This museum is excellent. Built upon Switzerland's historical links with psychological institutions (Jung, Freud, et al), this museum has well put together exhibitions, unassuming, polite staff and a varied collection of works (from across Europe). I firmly recommend it as one of the highlights of attractions in Lausanne. Easily spend 2-3 hours here, so great for those cold weekend winter...

Edgar Allan Poe said: "What you mistake for madness is just over acuteness of the senses". Let's go inside and assess it, totally true.
Whenever friends come to town, I always schedule a visit to the Art Brut museum. It is outsider art at its best, with short biographies in French and English about each artist, and enough room to walk around and see the works you find intriguing. It takes at least 2 hours, and even then you haven't seen it all -...

As the description on the official site of the museum states, the collection consists of works of art by people untouched by artistic culture, often never published or known of before the death of the artist. This means that the subjects are unusual, the techniques less exercised but the result nevertheless fascinating. The best museum in Laussane, and a very...

I arrived to this place because I had a friend who is always looking for the local, strange places in every town. And I think for a change she was totally right about this place! It is a museum where the paintings, sculptures and art in general are made by either war veterans traumatized by the war/violence, or by mentally...
