On a clear day this is a must. We travelled from Lucerne by boat to Vitznau, then took the train to the top. We walked back down to Rigi Kaltbad and caught the cable car to weggis. It is possible to walk all the way down but we did not have the time, which is a shame. Once down we... More

I planned to do a bit of hiking in Mt Rigi. That didn’t happen, because of the bad weather. In the end I only took the train up and the cable car down. But the trip was still very good! Because of the bad weather, I couldn’t see the mountain much from the village Vitznau. The weather changed completely along... More

The best place to visit close to Luzern, even if you aren't a hiker. The train, tram and other train make it really accessible from Luzern and the views are stupendous. Make time for lunch either in Kaltbad or Kulm. First is great, too!

We absolutely loved the relaxed day visiting Mt Rigi. We started on the steamer from Wharf 1 in Luzern and had coffee on the way. We then transferred to a cog railway for our ascent up the mountain where we encountered spectacular views. We walked down one station and caught the cog railway to a spot where it was possible... We made a trip from Weggis to Rigi Kulm and an easy round trekking. You have a nice views from the top to all central part of Switzerland, the lakes and the mountains. Full of people as is very easy to get there with the train. Relaxing trip. We enjoyed very much the trekking from Rigi Kulm to Chaserenholtshutte -... More

We drove to Vitznau and took a 20 minute train up to Mt. Rigi. Stunning views from the top. There were several different trails that you could take from the top. We chose the path back down along the rail road. This descent is long but not too steep. There are lots of areas with benches to stop and enjoy... More

It was a very good day hike, starting from Luzern in the morning, we took a train to Goulda. Then took the blue train to the top. Then walked down a couple of stations. The hike was very scenic and there are some great views around.

We made a spontaneous decision to take the cable car to Mt. Rigi after finding we had a little extra time in Weggis, and seeing there was not much to do in the actual town. We expected a discount with our Swiss Pass but were surprised when there was no charge! Then, when we rode the cable car we were... More

Do not leave Lucerne without at least a day trip to Mt. Riggi. The boat ride to the mountain seemed quite expensive but we were able to use a Eurail Pass, which made the trip feasible. We went in late May and were not prepared for the snow that awaited us. However, we made adjustments midstream and had an incredible... More

Being an Indian, we have grown up to believe that if there is heaven on earth, it is the beautiful state of Kashmir! Well...Kashmir is and always will remain our first love but the Queen of Swiss Alps 'Mount Rigi' sure will give tough competition ;) Check out the photographs to believe what I just stated! The area of Mount... More
