Nothing like any of the churches I've seen so far - definitely worth a look inside. The chandeliers are so cool and the detail is incredible.
Gorgeous gorgeous church from the Baroque period. My favourite of all the churches I visitied. The detailing at every corner can make you just sit down and stare at all corners, overwhelmed by the beauty of the entire church. It's a stark comparison to the other churches and cathedrals which tend to be more solemn looking, this is an explosion... More
I have seen many churches all over Europe and this one is not so big, but very nice and impressive. The main point is that it is not dark and gloomy as many of the famous churches and cathedrals are, but well lighted and with lovely colored decorations. We were lucky to listen to the big organ playing and its... More
I have seen a lot of dark moody churches in my time, but was really surprised how light and airy the interior of this church was. Quite pretty inside and worth a picture or two. Close to everything else in the area like Old Town, Chapel Bridge etc.
I've been to Lucerne several times and this was the first time I stopped in St. Xavier Jesuit Church. Located directly across from the iconic Chapel Bridge on the edge of the River, definitely worth going in. Beautiful baroque architecture. This Jesuit Church is the first large baroque church built in Switzerland north of the alps. Construction began in 1666... More
Being Catholic we had to visit this baroque masterpiece while in Lucerne. Perfect apart from the near-obligatory vernacular table-altar that has ruined the sanctuary of many a fine church. Caught the end of an organ recital which sent shivers down the spine! Lovely pastel colour scheme throughout and interesting side altars. And of course it was all free! Highly recommended.
Beautiful and rather different church...light, airy in pinks and whites unlike a lot of the heavier wooden styles displayed in other churches and cathedrals. The music (piped?) also added pleasantly to the general ambience.
Jesuitenkirche of Lucern, reminds me a lot the churches i saw in Austria, especially the decoration and inside colours. Is beautiful , peaceful and ofcourse when seen from the lake is wonderfull. The wooden old bridge takes you directly in front of the church.
