A little off the main tourist track, but not really hidden. A beautiful old church dating back to the 11th century with some amazing frescos. Much as we tend to do today, the wise men of later times wanted to get rid of them, so what you see are largely remnants, although there are some largish examples. Really worth seeing

Many people miss this Church because of the opulence of the other buildings around it - there is no marble on the facade but stop and look and the wonderful wooden doors - inside if you keep to the right you come up to a Chapel dedicated to the family Sassetti with portraits of the donors Francesco Sassetti and his... This church is a true gem. There is no admission fee charged and the art contained within it is incredible. It is open 8 am - noon and 4 pm - 6 pm. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by.

Walking in, the open church is cool and inviting in the summer months. Please remember to cover your shoulders, it's just respectful. The best part of this church is nestled in the back right. The Sassetti Chapel is dedicated to the life of St. Francis. The Annunciation altarpiece by Ghirlandaio shows the influence of the Flemish works trickling down into... More

Beautiful church, but the gem is the Sassetti family chapel painted by Ghirlandaio. Dedicated to S. Francis. Superb.

There are lots of masterpieces in this ancient Cistersian/Vallombrosian church, but assuming you want to get back into the Via Tornabuoni to shop at Gucci, Pucci, and Ferragamo, you might want to focus on the superb Sassetti Chapel and its wonderful frescoes by Domenico Ghirlandaio. The frescoes tell stories about St. Francis of Assisi, with anachronistic portraits of the Sassetti... More

One of my top things to see in Florence. Just an incredible church with amazing art. It is never crowded, but only a couple of blocks from the ponte vecchio. It's a great way to spend 30-60min
