The Duomo was absolutely spectacular! It is so big and beautiful it almost doesn't look real when you are standing next to it. If you decide to take the walk to the top there are plenty of warnings about the number of steps it takes, but no warnings about the tight space. It is a very narrow and winding climb... More

All I can say is that if you see on one thing in Florence, this is the thing to see. When we came around the corner and got our first glimpse of the Cathedral, we were totally awestruck. The building is a work of art! Spend some time here....you'll be glad you did!

The Duomo is definitely on my top 3 in Italy! The building is massive and with the sunlight it looks like a special effect coming out of a movie! You see it from almost everywhere in the Centro Storico but when you arrive at the Piazza that's when it hits you! The inside is as nice!

This is a must see in Florence. We paid I believe around 10 euro to climb to the top of the Duomo and it's well worth it! The climb is pretty crazy as you are going up about 500 steps and it does get tight and narrow when you get closer to the top. Along the way you can walk... More

The cathedral was not busy so there was plenty of time to admire and photograph. No admission charge.

Let me just start by saying: I love Florence. Everything about Florence is so breathtaking, and when you climb up all those steps to the top of the Duomo (well worth it) the view is amazing. I could spend the whole day looking out at Florence from there.

For years I've been aware that the Duomo was a Renaissance "wonder of the world," but I wasn't quite prepared for seeing it in the flesh. First of all, it was much more massive than I expected--enough to stop me in my tracks, literally. I had always thought it would be sort of thinner and more fragile looking. It wasn't... More

Its a must see place in Florence, the arcitecture is splendid with the black and white marble. Truly one of a kind place! And not to mention the beatiful paintings by Raphael and others. Entrance to the cathedral is free, but there is a fee to climb up the tower.

Dress accordingly, get there early and you shouldn't wait to long. You can take pictures which is not common in a church in Italy. Well worth the visit.

The interior is large and, to that extent, impressive but there's not too much else to be said for it. Don't worry if you don't have time to look at it. But the exterior is astonishing. They have cleaned the marble to about one-third of the way round but walk all round anyway.
