Combine this attraction with piazalle michaelangelo. Gorgeous views, not very touristy and a very unique historic church. Take the steps down from here to make the pretty 10 min walk to san croce.

Try to go early and find a good route up to this church - we had a walk from a guide book which took us through the surrounding hills and along the city walls before ending up here with great views over the city, and the church itself is stunning! We were there around 10 oclock and it was much... More

When you get to the top, the view is so stunning, you will forget about the climb. Along the way is a beautiful rose garden and the church itself is spectacular.

This is a must see on any visit to Florence. If you can do the walk up the hill through the gardens, that is the best way to approach it. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and spectacular views.

Following Trip Advisor reviews I took my wife here hoping to hear the Gregorian chants. We arrived what we thought was a little early (4:45pm) in a rainstorm, and got quite wet while walking up the steep hill (and getting a little lost as the signage is poor). At the top of the hill the clouds cleared a little and... More

The Basilica di San Miniato was, to me, the most striking location in Florence. Instead of going from the Piazzale Michelangelo I was recommended by a local fried to walk from the Costa San Giorgio, Via di Belvedere and finally up to the church from the Via del Monte alle Croci. It's quite a walk that took me just short... More

We have been to Florence three times and finally made it to San Miniato on our last visit. We made it point of going there primarily because of the Gregorian Chants. While the chants were an important part of our visit, San Miniato is so much more. It is a beautiful church with one the best views of Florence. San... More

I saw this church from piazzale Michelangelo without knowing anything about it, and then decided to climb some more steps and get inside. When I entered, I was already amazed by its solemn beauty and by the lack of light inside the church, but when the monks started chanting it was something else. I just seated and enjoyed the chant... It might be a bit of a walk up a steep hill but the views are spectacular over the hole of florence, the church is pretty as well, its probably better from outside that is from inside.
