wow, that's my first word as I enter this rather dark church. Being able to see the frescos, the decoration of the roof timber, was great. And also I was amazed how well it is preserved, even so many wars and conflicts. I was told that because it was (and is) a holy place, people respected it through centuries.

Even if there are tourists about this is a great place to get away from the crowds and see the whole city spread out before you. Wait until late afternoon and you can have the whole place to yourself!

If you look on the left before you enter the church you will see a small Pharmacy run by the monks there. It reminded me of Cadfael movies.

This is a wonderful church, worth the walk up to Piazzle Michelangelo and n to the church. Interesting cemetery and touching cemetery for children, next door.

The walk up to this church has some steeper sections, but if you take your time (as you always should in a place like this) it's not too onerous and you will be rewarded with a spectacular view over the city. It is reputed to be...
