These 'graves' are beautifully decorated and very special as they stand a few meters above ground. Ensure to walk by during your city visit. You will notice that they are squeezed in the middle of very rich area, full of great sites to visit.

It's a fact that I love intricate and elaborate architecture but the Arche Scaglieri are definitely a must see sight in Verona. Keep walking down the road and you'll arrive to the banks of the Adige River. Nearby there is a great trattoria of which I forgot the name.
I visited Verona with family in April. We stumbled across the Arche Scaligeri and the adjacent Santa Maria church while walking around the Piazza dei Signori. The church is quite lovely inside and the tombs of the Scaligeri family are very ornate and worthy of a photo or two. They are easily photographed through the iron fencing from the street.

Walked through here on my own and then sometime later with a local guide. I have to admit I missed most of it on the first go. The church is the oldest in Verona with two very elaborate tombs outside apparently in differing Gothic styles. I'm not usually one for following a guide around but the one for this occasion...

Beautiful little chapel, with great feeling. Sat in the quiet and just absorbed the atmosphere.
This is one of the most distinguished monuments of gothic art in Verona.Very closed to suare signior and delle erbe you must visit in any case.
