Cruising around the Venice Lagoon in the mid afternoon of a summery day is very peaceful and relaxing but not particularly impressive.

The Venetian Lagoon is a huge enclosed bay surrounding Venice and the surrounding Islands. If you are visiting Venice for a couple of days or more, purchase a travelcard and visit the Islands of Murano ( where the glass factories are located), Lido (lovely long beaches) and Burano ( with its colourful houses and lace shops). Cruise ships travel into... More

A matter of being there, simply being there and traipsing through and around the vast puddles before everything disappears into the sea.

Of course one of the pleasures of Venice is to get lost in the labyrinth of little streets and passways and squares of Venice. Everytime you turn a corner a new sight or experience is waiting for you. Of course you can walk to San Marco and the Accademia and whatnot, and you pass the Canale Grande anyway. Of course... More

Buy a Vaporetto Pass for a week. Then go to all islands, and pay attention to the Laguna waterways. It is a intense traffic highway, and the bloodline of Venice. In a sunny day or under heavy snow, the Laguna is an impressive trip.

Cost was about 20Euro a person. board a "people mover" as they call them and you're off to the 3 islands with stops in each one. Burano was just so amazing and beautiful! Words cannot express the amount of beauty each island contains. its a must visit if you find yourself just west of San Marco Sq in Venice.

Had a great time on the Lagoon and exploring the islands. The glass museum on Murano is really interesting and the brightly painted houses on Burano are beautiful. Torcello was magical and quite eery.

Became very familiar with the lagoon since we stayed at the San Clemente Palace on its own private island in the lagoon. Visited Murano and its glass factories/museums on complimentary private boat service arranged by the hotel. Apart from seeing the artisans at work and the amazing hand blown glass the rest of the island was really interesting, dotted with... More

Morning coffee at the top of Via Garribaldi watching all the water traffic on the Lagoon and seeing the big cruise ships dwarfing the place. Travelling by vaporetti every day on the Lagoon seeing different places of interest and just enjoying the ride in the sunshine and mingling with both locals and tourists.
