This was a Chorus Pass church but is no longer, so now you have to pay a separate admission. However this has allowed you to take photos without flash. Many fabulous paintings here, some by 'Tintoretto' and some by his son and others. The 'Madonna in the garden' statue is now in the side chapel on the right. It is... More

This church has very serene feel when you enter. There are many works by Tintoretto (Jacopo) and he has a side chapel with his tomb. The only down side was that the chapel containing the statue of the madonna has a sign saying 'no guided tour groups' but when we were in there, a tour group of about 40 people... More

If you're a fan of the High Renaissance painter Tintoretto (1518-1594), you must not leave Venice without having spent an hour or so at the Madonna dell'Orto, the 15th century church in which he is buried. The church is a little off the beaten path--some 15 minutes from the Strada Nuova--but the walk is a pleasant one, especially if one... More

"The Presentation of Mary to the Temple" by Tintoretto is worth traveling to see. The area is desolate and refreshingly so. The vap stop called Orto is one way to get there, but I prefer to make the hike through the maze of streets, passing through ancient, very Venetian working class neighborhoods.

In a very peaceful location, this is Tintoretto's church - he lived nearby and is buried here. It houses many of his works including the infamous Last Judgment. There is a statue, said to be miraculous, of the virgin and child - quite chunky and rustic, beautiful in an unusual way. This church is one of the Chorus churches where... More

The exterior of this church was fabulous. Unfortunately, we got there after closing and missed the interior, but I'm sure it lives up to the promise of its exterior.

This off the beaten track church is not particularly easy to find, and on first sight seems a little ordinary and unimaginative but it is worth taking the effort to visit to see the paintings and architecture.

The peaceful location alongside the Canal, the beautiful decorations, great proportions, fine architecture, I like everyting about this small church and the area around it.
