This is the best palace in Genoa to understand what a "Palazzo dei Rolli" was in the days when the Genoa republic rose to the peak of power and wealth. I advise to visit it even in case of a one-day only stay, since it best shows the life of genoese aristocracy. As it was inhabited till the 50s, a... More

I've forgotten so much, but there was not a sight or museum or gallery I did not enjoy - I was just extremely pressed for time.

It's quite difficult to find this palazzo, hidden in Genoa's backstreets, but certainly worth the effort. It has two floors of restored grand rooms, dripping with paintings, objets d'art and furniture. Then there's a small art gallery with works by Rubens, van Dyck and Tintoretto. It was absolutely deserted when I visited - a member of staff had to accompany... More

An other genovese gem of riches, style and history. Good art collection with a finale ona high: a Ruebens. Also good textile exihinit on last floor. Try to get there at allocated times for visits and even if yo speak Italian, preted you don't - you may end up with a knowledgeable chaperron (visitors must stay together at all times... More

I recently attended two concerts at Palazzo Spinola and was delighted to revisit the museum. Not much has changed since my review in 2010, but I enjoyed the museum tremendously and wonder why more people don’t stop in! They have added additional signage to direct you to the museum, as it’s in the heart of the old city along Via... More

This is one of the many Genoa palaces that is now an art museum. This one contains much of its original furniture as well. There are some very famous works here, including Dutch masters. The first few floors are still the original palace. The top floor--which was the servants' quarters, of course--was damaged in WW2. It was rebuilt as a... More

This palace is worth seeking out for many reasons. First, the lovely roof terrace which is quiet and sunny - so peaceful compared to the bustle of the streets below. Second, the fabulous paintings - not every one - but some stunning ones are set apart and are true masterpieces. There is also the beautiful place itself, with its opulent... More

Loved the old maps and seeing the Rubens in the final room. The view from the rooftop garden is very pretty

Very in agreement with the previous reviewer AnnArbor. The EUR4 entrance fee is worthwhile as there are approximately 4 floors to see of various period antiques. The actual area of the museum is a little seedy even if it is only a 3 minute walk off via Garibaldi - EVERYONE told me to watch my bag as they told me... More

Galleria Nazionale, Palazzo Spinola, The National Gallery or Palazzo Spinola National Gallery are all one in the same! It is a wonderful museum and former home of the Spinola family, so it contains some of the original furnishings and their extensive picture collection, including works by Antonello Messina, Peter Paul Rubens, Anton Van Dyck, Bernardo Strozzi, and Joos van Cleeve....
