You can't miss it because it is the largest piazza bordered by the sea in Italy. We visited several times including the Republic day and enjoyed the pageantry. The caffe's bordering the square are the idyllic location to enjoy an aperitive in the setting sun surrounded by the grand architectural monuments to a past opulent era as the local triestenese... This place brings you into an other stage of your life. Drink coffee in one of the coffee houses around that place where long time ago James Joyce or Rilke took place is exceptional

Nice wide piazza, with grand buildings on 3 sides, opening to the sea towards the south. The centrepiece of the corso in Trieste. Lined by cafes on the 2 sides, and big enough not to be crowded with tourists. Happened to be there for Rebublic Day and watched parades and ceremonies take place here. Nice to have a great venue... What an attractive square with all you would want to enjoy in it. Admirable building all over, large space with a brilliant fountain on one side, 3-4 cafe/restaurants around and a few shops on the side opposite the sea. Absolutely the best place to spend some time while in Trieste and only 50 meters from the sea.

Beautiful square with view over the Triest coast, make sure you go and have a drink at "Caffe degli specchi" on the square, lovely outside area, great drinks and a lot of sun. The square is probably Europe's largest square facing the sea. Lovely for a romantic evening walk

There are several cafe's and bars around the piazza, on a nice warm day you can sit there and just watch the "dulce vita" - unfortunately it rained when I was there, but still very nice!

If you come from land, the square seems to flow into the sea; we are told that if you come by sea, it seems to flow into the square which is surrounded on three sides by palaces that are reminiscent of imperial Vienna. Note: the Information office just off the square, sells a pass to the city which is definitely... More

Stunning square in the heart of the city - beautiful architecture all around as well as the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop.

One of the nicest squares I've ever visited. Interesting architecture and good for people-watching, and for sunset and night photography.
