It is part of the extra ticket - i.e. you could not buy the ticket to the mausoleum separate and you have to pay 11,5 euro for 5 churches, museum and this mausoleum. It is rather small and somehow shadowed by the close location to St. Vitale - but bellieve me it worth a visit as all other mosaics in... More

More intricate mosaics including the most famous one reproduced everywhere in Ravenna of the the 2 doves on the bird bath. May have to queue if there are tour parties about as it is small inside and numbers of people allowed in at once is restricted. time is limited to 5 mins - which is sufficient. Access is through Basilica... More

Be sure to pause at the mosaic of Christ the Good Shepherd. The peace and tranquility of this scene will bring you solace and comfort.

You only get 5 minutes in here as they need to preserve the microclimate and it is crowded. But it is worth it to see the mosaics, especially the blue 'carpet like' mosaic at the entrance. A tiny jewel.

The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia is on the grounds of San Vitale, and is entered with the same multi-ticket. Do NOT miss it. It is a miniscule cruciform building with upper walls and ceilings entirely covered with mosaics. Some of these are narrative - Christ the good shepherd, St. Lawrence approaching his own barbecue. Some are spectacular decorative designs -... More

So grateful that our private tour of Ravenna included a stop here. Not only a great artistic and cultural experience, but a peek into history that we never new existed....the link between the late Roman empire and the coming age of the Vandals. So cool to learn of it through the story of this amazing woman.

Beautiful mosaics in a lovely building. Great value if you buy the ticket to cover all five sites you also get a map sowing all the others as well. I really loved Ravenna and it was well worth the visit.
