On the day after our arrival from the US we went to the opera having reserved tickets beforehand. We saw Wagner's The Flying Dutchman in an opera house that dates back to the 18th century and is simply beautiful to look at. The combination of great voices and a glorious production of a romantic opera made for a memorable evening....

One of the great opera houses of Italy. Many of the side boxes have restricted views but the qccoustics are great.

The programme of the Teatro Comunale is very good,I saw a lovely performance of L'Italiana in Algeri by Rossini very well conducted by Paolo Olmi

We saw a very modern opera 'Jacob Lenz ' surrounded by the baroque decoration of this beautiful theatre. We were in a box on the fourth floor off to one side which made it a bit difficult to see the stage without twisting the neck and back. This theatre is like a fairy tale inside. The little private stalls make you feel like you've travelled back 200 years. A beautiful experience.

A lovely opera building in Belle Epoque style. Get seats in one of the boxes so that you can see the whole theatre and enjoy an unrivalled people watching experience. The opera is also one of the top ones in Italy so the quality of the music is good.
