This is the mother of all Roman Catholic churches. It dominates the piazza where it is located. It is easily accessible via metro as the station is just opposite the main entrance. The church is large and the interior is vast. There isn't as much to see as St Peter's Basilica or Santa Maria Maggiore but the large central cyborium... more

I have been to Rome three times, and finally managed to make the trek to San Giovanni in Laterano. I have no idea why it is so overlooked in guidebooks and reviews.
