Villa Oplontis is an amazing site and, for me a highlight of a trip which included visits to Pompeii/Herculaneum/ Vesuvius etc. The frescoes are breathtaking...the amount of fine and clear detail which remains is fascinating. It is a real privilege to see them and to wonder about the artist who originally painted them. Just wonderful.

Stunning frescoes. With the site having been so recently excavated, it has great advantage over some other sites exposed to the elements for two hundred odd years.

Well worth the money. Easy to find from the train station on the Circumvesuvia line. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The frescos & mosaics were second to none. We loved it ! We will definitely be back.

Visited here on morning 3 of our trip and this was as much as either of us could take for ruins. Quite how anyone does Pompeii, Herculaneum, here, Boscoreale & Stabiae in 3 days I don't know. A bit of guess work was required here as the office had run out of English guides and didn't have any in my... More

Villa Oplontis or villa Poppea, named so after the second wife of Nero, is only a short walk away from the Circumvesuviana station Torre Annunziata (Via Sepolcri to the south). Since this excavation site is all about one large villa the size of the site is amazing. You get a good idea about how the elite were spending their leisure... More

I had heard about Oplontis and was determined to see it on this trip. It was everything I had hoped for amd more. The preservation of the site is amazing. The artwork is breathtaking. The facilities enjoyed by the occupants in the time before the eruption were really modern. Even a 75 meter swimming pool! Don't miss this....

Oplonitis is a simple 200m walk from the Torre Annunziate Circumvesuviana station. Entry is included on the 5-site ticket that you should have bought when you visited Pompeii. The site is just one enormous villa but it is very well preserved and includes some great wall paintings. Gives a sense of what a high class villa looked and felt like.... More

Only a short walk from the Torre Arru... stop on the Circumvesuviana. Definitely in great shape and one of the more impressive villas from Nero's second wife. The wall paintings and swimming pool are very nice! We stopped off at a small shop on the way for pannini's and snacked near the baths in the villa, although I'm not sure... More

This site was incredible to see, visitors with walking problems be aware the only access is via a long set of steps going down into the site, although they are wide steps so manageable, my mum walks with a stick due to having bad knees just managed it very slowly, there is no guide book with your ticket so read... I highly recommend taking the train from Pompeii to see this villa. It was extremely quiet there, unlike Pompeii with the throngs of visitors, and I had the opportunity to stroll slowly through the ruin uninterrupted. Well worth the extra time to see it.
