Unless you're really fond of local history and arts, or have plenty of time, the museum is nice but doesn't make a must-do visit. More

Entry is free into this spacious museum. There are paintings by some of Spain's greatest artists here including Goya, Velazquez and El Greco, plus a wide selection of religious art. More

Entrance is free and it is open all day i.e. does not close for lunch/siesta. The cafe looked a bit plain but the gazpacho and fish that... More

This museum should really be labeled as the Museo de Bellas Artes. The Museo de Bellas Artes was started as the Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of Santa Barbara in 1753. Later it became the Real Academia de Nobles Artes de San Carlos. In 1837 the government confiscated all the artwork in convents and monasteries, and these were grouped... More

I like visiting museums wherever I go. I always find time to visit at least one, or few if I can. So I did in Valencia when I went. This museum is the least favourite of all the museums I visited while I was in Valencia. Nothing wrong, but nothing special. It's just " flat ". If you have got... More

I was very disappointed with this museum. Almost everything was religious - so if that isn't your cup of tea it really isn't worth heading out here. More

On a wet Saturday in early December,2004,I visited and enjoyed the Museum of Fine arts in Valencia. I enjoyed their fine collection of 19th Century Spanish paintings, especially by Cecilio Pla,Joaquin Sorrolla, and Aurelio de Berreguete. I enjoyed their Netherlandish paintings by Jan Frans Bloemen,Cornelius Van Haarlem, and Jan Van Goyen. I appreciated their fine Spanish primitive retablos, especially by Jacomart,Reixach, and Nicolas Falco. I... More
