I absolutely loved visiting Toledo. We went to Madrid for a few days and decided to get the high speed train to Toledo. It cost 12 euros and it takes 30 minutes to get to Toledo.
Toledo is a medieval Spanish city with a lot of history. Sight seeing galore from churches, cathedrals, mosques and Synagogues. The place is so...

The Puerta de Toledo is a very good landmark, a very impressive gate. The sculptures that are at the top of the gate are very good works of art. Nearby is the place where they hold the weekly rastro (flea market).
the city atop a hill is surrounded by water. go to the viewpoint to get a scenic view of the city. you can either do a walking tour or take the Toledo day trip bus/tram to explore the town.
just a word of caution from our hostel owner is to avoid going out after 7pm alone unless you are in...

Toledo is near Madrid Spain and a must see. A short train ride from Madrid. Buy round trip ticket at the main train station and go as early as you can. Toledo is a hill town with a river around most of the town. Beautiful views. Take a tour bus from the train station for the one mile ride to...

One of the features of Madrid are these monumental Gateways - usually with staggering sculptures atop and often on a Traffic Island and where a major road heads out (or into) the City. This monument is worth stopping by if it is not too far out of your way. La Puerta de Alcala is a far more noticed monument, but this one is always nice to see.
A beautiful old city, well preserved looking like it did five hundred years ago, most of the wall surrounding the city is still there and impressive. Great for pictures, shopping and to experience history. We have been there twice and can't wait to go back.
it is most impressive to go to alcalas gate this gate is far from city center and ther eis a train station very close to it , but ONLY go if you have much time
....just another old gate. Puerta de Alcala is much more impressive!
