We went by train but wished we had bought the second price ticket that included a buffet lunch. Dearer but better value.

We took the train from Barcelona and then the cable car to get up there. We arrived at about 11:00 am and settled down in the church by 11:40am. The lines were preposterously long to go up to see the Black Madonna. However after the Boys Choir performed, the tourist disappeared and we could really enjoy the monastery, including taking...

The day started wet; it also happened to be the feast day of the Black Madonna. We had to battle thousands of tourists and local pilgrims to get into the cathedral to listen to the boys' choir. At the same time there was a long queue to touch the statue of the Black Madonna. On the average it took 1...

We decided to go to Montserrat for the day. On entering Plaza Espania Metro/Train Station there was plenty of signs to follow to the correct area and then there was two desks to go to. One was for the Cable car, the other for the Funicular. You have to decide which one you want to get up/down the Monastery by,...

Monorail down, boys choir, views. The area is worth the experience. Nice peaceful day if you enjoy walking and heights.

A tranquil and pretty location with great views. Definitely worth the trip out of the city if you want to get away from the craziness of the city
Fabulous!. Our first day in Barcelona, off to Montserrat, we traveled from the hotel by train and subway. The train will take you almost to the entrance, where you will board a tram to get to the top. Tram is more fun than the train. I had no idea what to expect, what a beautiful site, there are many trails...

The hotel is great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. Photographer's dream architecture and vista, close enough to Barcelona and surrounding country side. Visited since for more pictures
