This is the real gem of Malaga. It is worth making the effort just to get some good pictures, the views really are spectacular, but be warned. Even those who are of good fitness will find the walk quite tough, it is long, winding and steep - I wouldnt even attempt it. You can get a bus there for 1.30euro... More

The Castillo can be reached either by bus or by an fairly stiff climb (but worth the effort!) Once reached, the views over Málaga are wonderful. There is a fine little museum, and on the walk round the walls one can drop off into a very pleasant café for refreshment. It is a fine example of Moorish defensive architecture.

I went here as part of two days spent exploring Malaga. The first day was a Monday, so many things were shut, but this was open. The walk up was lovely, with great views over the bullring on the way. Once at the castle, the views are stunning, and it is fun to walk along the walls and explore. Standing... More

Our cruise ship docked in Malaga for a day but, unfortunately, it was Monday and two things we would have liked to see - the Picasso Museum and the Museum of Crystal and Glass, were closed. We stopped in at the tourist bureau and found out which bus to take to go to the Gabralfaro castle and enjoyed the bus... More

Only the outside walls are intact or have been restored. So there is not much to see inside, but you come here for the stunning views from the ramparts. Unfortunately we had a foggy day, but even then the views are spectacular. You can see the sea, Malaga city and port, and the surrounding mountains. To get there, you can... More

We hopped off a bus tour of Malaga at the castle and were delighted with the spectacle. Not much information provided but you're able to walk the entire castle walls and in doing so get views of the whole of Malaga from above. Amongst the greenery inside there were black squirrels who were pleased to pose for photos in return... More

Better be sure that your shoes are made for walking! the walk up to the Castillo is worth it with the views of the city. it is a 30 minute walk up a steep slope. Once at the top, the views are even more incredible! the construction of the castillo, the gardens and the views are well worth the visit.... More

The Gibralfaro overlooks the city of Malaga and it's port and visitors can enjoy fantastic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Look out for the parrots in the trees on the walk up to the Gibralfaro, they are very colourful. A useful tip is to visit on a Sunday when there is free entry after 2pm.
