What a wonderful museum! Well organized, lots of English translations, thoughtful selections. This museum told the history of Cordoba, as well as the area, from pre-history to the present. I was really struck by the inexpensive admission (I believe it is free for EU members, and 1.50 Euros for the rest) and the wonderful archaeological pieces they had. The Roman... More

Another gem surprisingly, again very well organised and excellent translations with a lot of interactive screens. Not a big museum but well worth the visit. The outside part is housed in I believe a 16th or 17th century palace wihch architecturally is also beautiful. And the walk around the neighbourhood is highly recommended - be brave and go and eat... With so much to see in the city, this museum doesn't seem to have taken off yet, judging by the amount of tourists when we visited. However, it is well worth the 10 minute walk from the Mezquita. Spanning history and on into pre-history, this museum tracks the development of the cuurent site of Cordoba as a place of human... More

A really well-presented, informative tour of Cordoba history through artefacts of the succession of cultures and religions that have contributed to the shape of modern Cordoba - from the Visigoth and Muslim occupations to the Catholic Royalty. The succession of exhibits are not overcrowded and set out in a very accessible way. The final stage of the exhibition is a walk-thru'... More

We visited this after the gardens of the Palacio de Viana, which made for an interesting and contrast full morning; if you are staying near the Mesquita, they combine well, since they are off in the same direction. We thought this was a very well presented museum with good explanations in Spanish, English and French. The display leads you through... More

According to our guides, this museum should have contained a famous Moor "horse" statue, then two patios, beautiful Roman mosaics etc. We found out that the horse had been recently moved to another place, 8 km away; that half of the museum (the old part) is currently shut down for renovations, and this includes the patios and probably the best... This is an example of how all museums should be. The displays are clear and uncluttered, there is a good use of technology to interpret the displays, labels are clear and in both Spanish and English, and you come away understanding so much more about the history of Cordoba. The Roman amphitheatre remains beneath the new museum building are not... More

Museum is rather small but well organized. All signs are translated into English, museum is easy to navigate. The collection of coins is amazing.

This Museum has got it right! In a modern building, but built over the ruins of the Roman Theatre - which are on display in the basement - this is just the right size for a short visit. It is clearly laid out; there are not too many artefacts; the displays are described in English as well as Spanish and... More
