Four of us visited on a sunny afternoon. Three are garden lovers and loved it. I was the exception. This review represents the consensus view. Although we have all seen prettier gardens, this is certainly among the nicest. The greenhouses are gigantic and filled with a huge variety of flora. The Elbe River forms one boundary of the property. The... More

Unfortunately the museum is closed during winter times but the castle and park covered in snow is nice to look at and very different to summer times.

A nice and calm castle along the Elbe river. One of the best places to hang around, with huge park around the palace. There is entry fee, however worth visiting this place. Also there is a garden (Japanese one, if I am not wrong) which has a separate entry fee, but worth visiting. Would recommend this place for all sort... More

They really knew how to spoil themselves and let the peasants do the work! We rented bikes in Dresden and cycled along the Elbe on a lovely warm summer's day,and it was not long after we had crossed over by the little ferry that we were feeling by kings and queens of Prussia walking around this beautiful park and garden... If the weather is nice this is a nice relaxing boat trip down the Elbe River where they will point out the various Castles, and Estates with Vineyards along the way to the Pillnitz Castle. Once you arrive you can walk the lovely gardens blooming in season, filled with topiary evergreens. The Castle itself is closed but there is a... More

Very nice place with well kept gardens and park famous for its Magnolia tree - one of oldest in Europe. Special glass house has been build there to preserve this tree during winter.

Extensive gardens in the French style, great collection of porcelain, furniture and paintings, do not miss! Can be combined with a tour by historic steam-powered paddle wheeler.

Most attractive gardens. Well worth a stroll ariund the riverside castle. very peaceful. Very accessible to Dresden. take the tram no 2 to its terminus and walk for 10 mins to the ferry across the River Elbe. The castle is visible from the ferry.

we travelled to Pilnitz on the hop-on-off bus, and there wasn't any time at all for visitation of the Schloss itself. We had a whirlwind tour of the gardens, visiting the 250 year old Camelia and it's travelling greenhouse - but beware - the Line 2 that serves Pilnitz has no English audio program - and our guests were left... None of my visitors hesitated to enter the Pillnitz Park inspite of the entrance fee. This seems to be opposite the the Pillnitz people, doesn´t it? They enjoyed the Park and found it worthy the dime.
