modern airport, very clean and organised. is one of the best airports that I have seen so far. not too far from the town, cheap transfers.
Not easy to be an important airport when you are in the same Country of Frankfurt and Munic but Duesseldorf managed to have a very modern, important and efficient airport. It has nice hotels nearby and it is just minutes from the center of the city with also good train connections. Sometimes the traffic to the city, especially when there...

I was quite surprised how sparse the signage was when I arrived because I couldn't find the trains and wound up instead taking the subway into town. Upon leaving, it was hard to find signage directing me to my airline's check in counter. Food prices at the various concessions were ridiculously high.
The Dusseldorf airport dies a good job providing service to travelers. It is not a huge airport like CDG or LHR, so it is easy to navigate. Parts of it look a bit dated and old, but other parts have been newly renovated. The one thing that could use improvement is the signage. It is also quite confusing to find...

When things go well this airport and the Lufthansa flights are OK. When things go wrong it seems you are completely on your own!
On Monday 11th March I was abandoned by Lufthansa in Dusseldorf due to the not unknown situation of a strike by security staff at the airport. Their management of the situation was unbelievably bad and I...

The departure hall/check in area is very modern and spacious. Then there is a wonderful "shopping avenue" with cafes behind the check in areas which make a visit most enjoyable. Similarly the shopping and departures areas behind the security and immigration control are a pure delight and pleasure especially in Gate B areas.
However the arrival Hall while very large...

Average because no wow-factor and small enough to have seen all boutiques in less than an hour. The departure and arrival duty free section is quite small as well. The Sky Train is a nice-to-try (connecting to the Dusseldorf main train station).
Up-to-the-minute terminal facility with convenient access by train or trunk motorway. Flights to all major European cities and a great many smaller ones, as well as direct access to US, Canada and Middle East. No scheduled direct service to Far East or subcontinent as far as I know at this writing.
Good choice for a gateway to Europe, connections to many popular European airports with good prices from Air Berlin, well planned airport facilities, Skytrain connects to rail station offering direct trains to a number of German cities. Good selection of cafes, restaurant and shops.
