Aachen has a really nice christmas market though it is not so big as other ones. You can watch sweets being made and buy them fresh. We found the items to be less expensive at this market and it is closer to get to from french ports

We visited this market while on a Tauck Christmas Market Cruise of the Rhine River. The market was lovely. It winds around the town and is very easy to see everything in a short time. Don't forget to buy some Printen!
We wandered through the streets and kept seeing more and more stalls dotted all over the town - we were so pleasantly surprised by the popularity and variety of stalls.
Each area we found we tried something in, whether it be food (German sausage is a must, as is the sausage in the curry sauce) drink (JaegerTea, mulled wine and...

The old townhall (rathaus) is a great backdrop to the cobbled square where the christmas market is situated. The stalls are well decorated with lots of lovely christmas goodies. A gluvein mulled wine and rieberkucken with apple sauce is also a welcome tummy warmer on a cold winters evening.

A great variety of Christmas decorations and ornaments as well as lots of food and drink, bratwurst in all its varieties and literally thousands of people. The only downside...

There were seemingly hundreds of stalls to shop and fantastic food and drinks. While the shopping was fun, the food was the highlight! My...

Part of a 5 day visit to the Christmas Markets and Aachen was certainly a great day. The stalls were bright and colourful with plenty of lovely things to see (and buy) and a chocoholics dream. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area too.
We went to Aachen on a whim one day while staying in Dusseldorf. We're so glad we did. Once we found the old town - a bit of a walk from the station - we were thrilled with the beautiful little streets, the beautifully decorated shops (so many chocolate shops) and the Christmas markets. While the markets have mostly the...
