I love visiting museums so I was really happy that there's a place I can visit some of them in a short time. Unfortunately the weather was so terrible that I couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted. Maybe next time it will be better.

You have to cross the Main river to reach the museums district.All the museums are one after the other on the river's bank. Stadel museum is excellent, also the communication museum which exhibits technology of communication from 40's to these days.
Look at the museum guide first, so you know what to expect, and then just walk around and find them as they pop up. Make sure to have a look around sachsenhausen, too, and drink some apfelwein in a local place.
Every city would be better if it had an area like this. Art, architecture, communication, film museums and others are concentrated here, a pleasant stroll from each other. I walked along here on several occasions, particularly enjoying the atmosphere on two warm evenings when the bank was crowded with young people enjoying picnics and watching the more strenuous on roller blades or paddle boarding on the river.

We were visiting Frankfurt for one night and just happened up on this festival in the evening. It was amazing to see so many people along both sides of the river.
