An excellent gallery. A welcoming coffee shop and book shop, and even a restaurant. We went primarily to see the collection of late 19th and early 20th century art, and we were not disappointed. The audio guide was particularly good, as for many of the works they had more than one commentary, and so you could have the benefit of... More

We recently visited the Stadel Museum for the first time. The museum has three distinct collections: Old Masters, Modern work 1800-1945 and Contemporary 1945-Present. Each collection is well laid out with good information in English for each work. We didn't bother with an audio tour and didn't feel that we missed it. I thought this was a great, world-class museum... More

We spent a lot of time in the ground floor trying to understand trying to understand how do these people want, especially that there was no guided tours or good explanation by the images on the walls. then we went to the first and second floor where were were impressed by all the work and art there. We found a... More

My wife and I spent half a day there (literally 5 hours). There are three permanent collections, old masters, modern arts, and contemporary arts. When we visited there, there were two additional exhibitions. There are quite a few masterpieces as well as less famous works by masters. We like the contemporary part most (underground). The cafe in the museum is... More

A good museum, in a great position, and attracts a lot of customers to it's very well done cafe. However we went to see a specific exhibition, and the place was not well organised for the amount of people who were queuing. It was painfully slow, and freezing outside, so we presumed it was limited amounts of people being allowed... More

The Stadel Museum was started in the late 1800's via a donation by its namesake. The original 42 (I think) paintings donated are all together on a wall at the entrance to an entire floor of 14th to 18th century paintings. We spent almost three hours in this area alone, partly because our preference for this kind of art, and... More

To be different, I’ll review the bookstore. It had a lot of fun things: recipe books, journals, mugs, posters, clearance books, etc. My favorite was hand-crafted wrapping paper – perfect for someone who has everything. Staff was very helpful.
