Yes, people were drinking beer at that hour. But they were also drinking coffee, lots of it. The market is only on Sundays and starts at 5 AM. Supposedly it ends at 10 AM, but I wasn't there at that hour, so I can't prove it. I arrived at 6:30, and the place was packed. It's easy to find your... More

A friend told me to visit this and whilst I was reluctant to get up at 5am I am so glad I did. The place was packed, we got there at 6am and it was in full swing. So fun seeing the people who had been partying the night before on the Reeperbahn that hadn't even gone to bed!! Bought... More

We went first thing in the morning & it was packed! Very exciting to see people out & about & practice your German in a unique setting. People were having a good time listening to music & drinking beer @ 8 a.m! Everyone fits in here!

Absolutely the place to be on a Sunday morning! Watch the great show the vendors put up, mingle with thousands of locals mixed with the leftovers from St. Pauli and finish up with a wet brunch at 6 A.M. in the old auction hall, where bad cover bands play evergreen pop songs and everyone is igniting a new round of... The fish market is a great place to visit and is opened on Sunday in the early am and closes in the early am. There are many vendors, but make your way to the main hall. You can always get food, beer, and coffee there. There was a band. It appears that some people do not go to bed on... More

Our flight arrived in Hamburg on Sunday morning and we had to find something to do before we could check into the hotel. THIS WAS PERFECT! There were plenty of interesting sights and vendors. At 0830 AM we were happily surprised to see a "Joe Cocker" sound alike band performing in the Fishmarket to hundreds of folks all in great... More

This flea market / auction stalls and live music hall is fantastic. If you want to go see some age old tradition get yourself down to the Fischmarkt on a Sunday morning. I know it starts earlier in the summer and later in the winter so check the Hamburg Tourist Info site for exact times. Im generally there in the... More

I had only one regret visiting this market: that i could not auction for all those fruit, chocolate, flowers, fish and all the other wonderful groceries they were offering! the sellers by themselves are a show, the way they attract the buyers! Also, best Sunday breakfast ever was here, with fresh fish & strong coffee. Bonus: live band of the... More

Miss out on your hotel's breakfast on a Sunday morning and do this. A very entertaining experience. The live music was loud and enthusiastic and there's plenty of choice with the food from currywurst to large pots of chopped fresh fruit. There's also the noisy market too with loads of colourful characters. Don't miss this!

I had planned on getting there at opening but didn't quite get up that early. As it turned out, that was fine. I love open air markets and this was one of the best I have ever been to. Obviously, lots of fish but the there was also fruits and vegitables (with some wonderful looking fresh white asparagus). Unfortunately, I... More
