THE hip beer garden/cafe in berlin with style, directly located at a lake in the Tiergarten. You can rent a rowing boat there as well and have a short boat trip on the lake. The pizza is awesome. They have a self-service and a seated area. Don't look like a backpack-tourist if you want a table in the seated area... More

We stopped off at the cafe while walking through Tiergarten. We only wanted a drink and didn't intend to eat. On arrival it's quite a beautiful place with lovely wood burning stoves and nice music. It was very busy and the food did look good. The service was terrible. The managed to drop a bottle of soda water down my... More

During a 7-day summer holiday I went there with my girlfriend. We were not so sure to find a "great" place, just somewhere to eat. But with a bit of surprise we had a splendid night, eating a very good roasted chicken with the best sauerkraut I ever had and great beer. There are two sides, the pizzeria and the... More

Visited this café on 15th December and it was the prettiest place I'd been to in Berlin! Behind the café were a group of people playing Eisstockbahnen (curling) on the ice, the lake had frozen and everyone was drinking gluhwein. Inside the places was decorated with lots of candles, Christmas tree and decorations. We ordered a hot chocolate which came... More

This restaurant. although in a lovely setting, has been in decline, both in the quality of the food but especially in the inexcusable service. We will not be returning. Our most recent visit featured an incredibly rude, poorly trained waitress. Our order arrived incomplete, cold, without silverware. Your time and money would be better spent at the adjoining pizza/beer concession.

a perfect place for a lunch or dinner. The main restuarant looed a bit crowded but the perfectly good self service restuarant to side has about 200 tressle tables - and it was only half full Saturday lunch time. the self service food was perfectly good - in fact the kartoffelsalat was better than an expensive restuarant I had. the... A fantastically relaxing place to chill out on a sunny afternoon. Spent a couple of hours there one day after some heavy touristing, and went back to following afternoon at the request of our daughter who was in command as it was her 10th birthday. This involved a fair bit of rowing on the lake (trying to emulate some of... More

Great location next to the water in Tiergarten. It's well organised by helpful and friendly staff, use the boats on the pond which were great. Generous food portions in a lovely setting among the trees, enjoy a leisurely drink in the sun. Reasonable too especially considering the location, a real find.

We stumbled upon Cafe am Neuen See on a bike ride through the Tiergarten and stopped for a snack and a drink. Lovely setting on the pond, and it was easy to spend a few hours relaxing in the sun next to the water. The food station is very well-done and orderly. Appreciated the real flatware/utensils/glasses as many of these... More
