Had a great morning walking around with a local friend. The garden and lake are beautiful, on top of the really fresh air and gentle breeze blowing! If you do not have time to visit neuschwanstein castle, this palace closer to Munich city centre can give you a peek into King Ludwig's many castles.

The gardens are lovely with a great café/restaurant that makes for a nice break in your day. We ate there and were very pleased with our lunch.

It costs about 6 Euros per person to see the interior of the Schloss. The main entry room is quite beautiful, but the remainder of the rooms are not that interesting. The grounds are very beautiful and there is no cost to explore the grounds. Behind the Schloss you will find various statues from Greek mythology.

King Ludwig's castles look more or less the same all in all. Of course each has a story, but they all have the common points like: copying Versailles or some French king, some things not finished, the mad king wasting money on castles, things built for Wagner, that never came to visit, etc, etc. BUT, what I recommend you, is to... This is a nice palace as it is not huge but sufficient to see the wealth of the empire and its artistic rooms. Entering the rooms you can see the decadence of the owners and the detail of the crafters. The main room is a few meters high with wood floors and beautifully painted ceilings. The paintings on the wall... More

Very well laid out park with ornamental gardens, geese, waterfalls, canals and fountains. Oh and lots of palace buildings and summer houses. Definitely worth a visit

Easy to get to by taking the u-bahn. We did not go inside because it was late when we arrived. The gardens are free to walk around, I do not know if there is a fee to go inside since we did not.

This is a short tram ride from the centre of munich. The palace is outstanding, the views as you walk up to it are breath taking. The ceiling paintings are wonderful. The garden walks are worth it if you have the time.

Snow covered, cold, but stunning. Long or short walks - beautiful grounds, plenty of photographic opportunities. Just a tram ride away from the centre of Munich.

It is very interesting to visit the Schloss Nymphenburg palace and the Marstallmuseum to see the carriages and sleighs. The other park palaces can be skipped if time is limited. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The green scenery is peaceful and amazing.
