We stayed overnight in Munich and traveled from there to Fussen by train in the morning (not that early), We pre-purchased the train ticket online a month earlier, only costed us 10EU, from Munchen Hbf to and fro Fussen. We should have gone there earlier in the morning as we didn't actually pre-purchased the castle tickets. So, this sort of... More

After having difficultly understanding the "English" speaking tour guide at Neuschwanstein, it was a relief to walk to the adjacent castle and understand every word. The guide told the history well and had a good sense of humor. Well worth the 11 Euros admission.

The English tour was different than I expected because it is an audioguide tour lead by an English speaking worker who elaborates and answers questions as you go. You get to see quite a bit and the inside is beautiful. It was disappointing that you cannot take pictures inside but understandable. The hike up to the castle was not as... More

The English tour of the inside of the castle was very good, but a bit too hurried. You must buy your ticket in town, and you will be given a specific tour time. Be sure to pick a tour in your chosen language. It takes about 15 minutes of semi-steep walking to reach the Castle entrance. There is no elevator,... More

This vacation residence of the Bavarian kings family gives you the rare feeling of a castle having actually been lived in! Interesting to see, and beautiful location.

The castle is small and sufficient, with amazing woodwork and a hustled tour. Can't take pictures, but the memories are worth the trip. A must see when going to Neuschwanstein obviously.

The same comments I made about Neuschwanstein apply here. This is a pricey, touristy destination where you'll be crowded by large tourist mobs, get a superficial, quick tour and wonder why you bothered to spend so much time and money to gain so little, Better to buy one or two of the excellent picture books on the castle, and have... Less spectacular than Neuschwanstein, but much more informative about the life and times of King Ludwig. A really lovely interior, as well. I would definitely include this in your trip to the area.

This castle is the parents' castle of the Neuschwanstein man Ludvig II. I think this castel was more interesting than the other one, but also here you can't take any photos inside and the tour lasts 30-40 minutes. The commercial touch can be understood, but with it my fascination goes into hiding.
