That Castle, and its incredible wine cask, the world's largest, should not be missed if one visits Heidelberg. The cable car is the easiest way to get to the Castle, though it is not the easiest to find. It is also quite reasonable, 6 Euros which includes access to most of the Castle's exhibits.

I think we missed some of it because they don't tell you where to go, what to see or even hand out a pamphlet.......we have been to so many castles in Europe and they always tell you what there is to see or at least a pamphlet to show what there is to see. The castle is nothing extraordinary, but it deserves a visit. You can take nice pictures from there and you can enjoy the Heidelberg's view from the top of the hill. The old castle offers a lot of surprises. The statues are all masterpieces,. The view from the castle is very nice. The guidance is top class. The garden is well manicured and offers a very relaxing environment. It is really a gem on the Neckar River on whose slopes best Germen wineries exist.

The castle is really nice but what we liked the most were the views of the city and the river from the top terraces and gardens. Note to parents bringing small children, leave your stroller down, way up is really steep and not very good for strollers so opt for a baby carrier if you must carry your child.

I love touring the castle, which is still in a very good condition. Being a pharmacist I especially loved the German pharmacy museum. A must see while in Heidelberg !

It was pretty cool to go and see. The best part was the view of the city from the castle's patio it was amazing. Don't miss the enormous wine barrels that are under the castle in the restaurant area.

I visited the castle in may , it's one of the main attractions in heidelberg. You can either walk up through the steps or take the cable car.
