The mansion has been turned into a museum which is unfortunate because it is not a great museum and they have stripped the house of it's "elegant home" feeling. And still, it is worth seeing the house and imagining the fascinating family who lived there. More

In my opinion this is very interesting museum with a lot of things one may not think they exist. It is very easy to find and reach this Museum. One weak side of this Museum is that not French speaking people couldn't take as much from the place as this place deserves (the English speaking headphones do not cover more... More

Institut Lumière is in the home of Louis an Auguste Lumière, inventors of cinema. It's very accurately described as "a genuine Living Museum of the Cinema." Not dry at all,and has many opportunities to actually watch the films shot by them and their associates around the world. Does a great job of talking about how they came to the discoveries... More

as a film enthusiast, it was awesome to be able to go to the house of the person who started it all. the collection may be a bit small but it was simply exciting just to be there. you don't need the audio guide because the display would give information already. More

The Musee Lumiere had the beginnings of film and it also had the progression. Knowing nothing about the subject, the museum was a well rounded less in film and where film began. More

Easy to find - its not far from the Lumiere Montplaisir Metro station in Lyon. Its a grand old house which is very impressive in itself. I took the audio guide for an extra €3, which was most useful for those who don't speak perfect French. Lots of interesting old cinematic machines to see, lots of old films to watch... More

The place itself is a beautiful one. But the absence of translation to English really makes difficulties for understanding the exposition. More

This is somewhat off the beaten path but if you have an interest in the history of cinema , you should make the trip: 10 minutes by Metro from Presqu'ile. It is included in the Lyon City Card so admission is free. More
