A must see in villefranche. Essentially a one room chapel but what a room! The figures seem to spring from the walls. Sadly no pictures but you can buy fantastic postcards. Opposite is the hotel welcome where Cocteau used to stay and is a good place for refreshment after your visit.

What a wonderful, hidden gem! I guess it's not really hidden -- it's just that you can't really know by the modest exterior of this little chapel what's inside..... Wonderful art -- contemplative -- simple, but complex... Worth the time and money to see.

It is clear that Cocteau had a great fondness for this town and its fishermen, as he incorporated representations of the people and the Citadelle of Villefranche sur Mer into his line drawings which fill this sweet little chapel. This chapel is small so can be visited for a short visit, However is is better to sit and really study all the work on the walls, ceiling and door It's very beautiful.The attendant was describing all the decor in detail to two visitors and she seemed knowledgeable and approachable
