Due to having a disaster with a hire car that broke down and having opted not to accept a replacement car from the hire company (due to the distance we would have had to travel to collect it) my fiance and I were faced with the dilemma of getting from Moustiers-Sainte-Marie to Nice - a friend suggested using the Train... Nice trip to Annot and Entrenaux, enjoyed the views of the mountains and wandering in the old towns. Would have liked to ride on the steam train, however we enjoyed the mix of old and modern stock. Glad we didn't go to Digne which would have been too far. More

I hope this can keep going, I didn't see many passengers. It starts from the Gare du Sud, a long disused railway station in the heart of Nice, one of those arching glass roofed buildings that are so hard to maintain. Then for the ride I brought a book for the slow parts - there are no slow parts! The... More

I found about about this through Trip Advisor and it was one of my favorite parts of visiting Nice. It was indeed complicated finding the train station, but once we figured that out, the trip was lovely. The scenery was breathtaking. I recommend just going to Entrenaux and not all the way to St. Andre like we did. Then you'll... More

Local train, going in the country side. Great for a round day trip, or do a longer stop in little village as Touet. Locals call it the TGV, which in this case stand for Train a Grands Vibrations, which is quite funny ! More

Overrated by all the tourist books. In fact its an uncomfortable little train. We traveled from Nice to Digne. its really too far. If you do want to go on this train get off at one of the lovely hill towns. Much better. More

The narrow-gauge railway was fun - once we had succeeded in finding the station which is west of the original building. We took a trip to Entrevaux which was good for a visit of 1½ hours before the next train back. Comfortable and enjoyable! We saw primroses growing in a few places, otherwise virtually no wild flowers, to my surprise. More

I read about the Train des Pignes here at Tripadvisor, but after having read the reviews, I was still not quite sure, if it was a tourist trap or really worth something to visit. Fortunately it turned out to be the latter. We (I and two friends) got on the train in Nice at 8:50, went to Saint-André-les-Alpes, got off... More

Stayed in Nice for 5 days with my wife and our 11 month old son, visited Monoco and Cannes and a train ride to Entrevaux was certainly a highlight of the trip, if not the most enjoyable day. The recommendation to stop at this ancient town was spot on. Take the 8:50 train from Nice and its about 1:30 to... More
