Arrived at 11.40am to be told that the museum shut at 12.00pm to 2pm. We only wanted to have a quick look round and the jobworth door just shrugged and said 'poofff'

Beautiful setting but what a poor collection of paintings. You have to be a real Picasso fan to appreciate them. The outdoor area contains some interesting sculptures but that was the best bit. Some lovely views of the alps from the terrace. Some works by other artists I did not appreciate at all.
Most of the works are from the time that Picasso lived in Antibes which was not very long, so it is not a real overview. But if you like museums and like Picasso it is worth a visit, Fairly small considering his whole oeuvre but sill fine to add to your art knowledge. I was looking up a word on...

The old Grimaldi Castle is where one finds Picasso in Antibes, although in the '20s he used to hang out nearby in Juan-les-Pins with other Bohemians. Other 20th c. artists are featured on lower floors, while many of his, plus photos of him in his studio, can be found on the top floor. Here are also wonderful views of the...

You get a double pleasure at this museum, seeing not only Picasso's work from a very specific period during the war years, but also a medieval chateau transformed into a modern museum.
There were two other temporary exhibitions Hans Hartung and his wife, and then Jean Blais, both very contemporary in their oeuvre.
The displays are well described, there is...

The Chateau Grimaldi is worth a visit for the location and the building. It's right on the sea with lovely views and has been attractively adapted as a museum. For us the Picasso association - seeing where he worked for a few months - was more interesting than the collection itself. The best items were the photographs of him working...

The musée is housed in an old Grimaldi castle that was build in the 1300+ over ancient greek ruins. That by itself was special. To learn the history of Picasso in that museum, how he spent 2 months there using part of the musee as his workshop and how he paid them back gives you an added appreciation to the...

the museum is amazing, the picasso paintings and setting by the sea are superb in the ancient city of antibes
The walk along the old wall along the Mediterranean Sea led us to the Picasso Museum and former Grimaldi Castle. Such a magnificent view of the turquoise coloured water dotted with sail boats and fishing boats. The staff, from first to last, was most curteous, friendly, and willing to share their knowledge of everything on site. They accommodated wheelchair patrons...

When you walk the street of old Antibes, you cannot miss the 16th-century chateau des Grimaldi overlooking the mediterranean sea. On the last floor, it houses a small but remarkable collection of ceramics from Picasso. On the 2nd floor, you will discover many pictures of the life of Picasso when he was offered to have his studi in the museum...
