I have visited churches in many places around the world, but I have never seen anything like St Catherine's Church. The use of timber throughout is amazing, a lovely feeling of warmth in the house of God, no cold stone. You must visit St Catherine's Church.

We were briefed on this church as part of the guided tour organised through the Tourist Office. The church itself was very accessible and very interesting - a "must visit".

This unique wooden church is well worth a visit. The architecture is amazing and we were fascinated how the roof was constructed from the hulls of ships, as the builders didn't know how to build a roof at that time. Honfleur is a picture perfect town, with pretty cobblestone streets and really interesting small shops, set around the tiny port.... More

This is THE highlight of Honfleur, other than the entire town and the ambience of it. The church was built in the mid-15th c. to celebrate the end of the Hundred Years War and the return of French dominance from the English. The architecture and the church itself are wonderful and the separate bell-tower (belfry) across the square are gems.

This is the larger of only two wooden churches that remain in France. Unusually it has a double nave. In one part of the church there are high cane-topped kneelers for older people. Opposite the entrance to the church is the separate timber belltower,

This is down very close to the main part of the old town of Honfleur. Definitely worth popping your nose in for a look around. Very different to other churches you will see around Europe because it is wooden.

Ancient wooden church with separate belltower. Right in the middle of town. Worth seeing; and there are bars and coffee shops very near, with a tea-shop just on the far side of the belltower from the church.

This church is built mainly from wood and is several centuries old. It is worth visiting. The bell tower is separate from the church and is also interesting.

Saint Catherine's Church in Honfleur is unique for it's beauty and design. The largest wooden church in France sits in downtown Honfleur and it's bells sit next door. The church is like nothing I have seen with the totally wooden construction. It is light and open and does not feel like you are in the middle of a downtown area... More

I do not often see churches made almost entirely of wood. Most would have at least cement floors but this was was totally wood. It was quite exquisite. It also nice to hear the priest singing while we were visiting the church.
