This cathedral is beautiful and impressive for this small city. Adds to the ambience and charm of Bayeux because it is so picturesque.

As Cathedrals in the Noman style go... this is the most Norman. It was a very interesting visit - late in the evening which made it quite atmospheric.
Really great, especially because I didn't even know Bayeux had such a cathedral, so it was a surprise and a treat. It's HUGE and very old. Perfect example of French Gothic architecture. We loved it, we only wish we had more time to attend Mass there.
This beautiful cathedral was built in 1077 and William the Conqueror was there for its consecration. It has such history, beautiful murals and art work. We really really loved it.
I so enjoyed walking around this ancient spiritual place. I found it to be a real surprise how peaceful it was. I particular enjoyed reading the list of known pastors/priests who have served this church. The earlier one was in the year 440.
Don't miss going to see this sparkling gem sitting in the most picturesque village in France. It is open to the public and is magnificent in the evening light.
one sees many cathedrals in Europe but this one is truly amazing. I could have spent a week looking at the outside and another two weeks inside. We were lucky enough to hear a boys choir from Holland perform the evening we were there.
