It started off well with the electronic cars (3 seats/row), as the tunnels are huge, this is a good way to explore. The short hologram like films with actors are also a good, however, the french narration is too loud, you do not hear the english translation through the earphones, they also stop working. At the end of the car... More

I really wish we would have realized exactly what we were in for before we paid to see this. I'll be honest, I didn't experience much of the tour. I have a 2-yr-old, so sometimes tours can be challenging, what with trying to keep him quiet and entertained so that everyone on the tour can enjoy it. However, I felt... More

A must see if you are touring Verdun. The tour takes you on a trolley like vehicle through the underground fortress where soldiers lived and planned the battle strategy. As you tour the various sections of the fortress, a screen with a hologram reenacts various stages of the war, making you feel a part of the scene. The tour is... More

We (three adult women) were coming from Amiens, and passed by other things we would have like to see to get here in time for our appointment. Which wasn't needed as there was no one else on the train with us. The displays are very amateurishly done and there is no information presented that one couldn't get from a variety... More

I was impressed by the thought and effort which had gone into providing this insight into the horrors of WW1 and the needless slaughter of young lives. I was interested to hear the opening presentation which explained the tensions which existed in Europe at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries between the major powers of France, Germany, Austria, UK and... Great way to relax and see the underground passages under the old citadelle of Verdun. It's a buggy right through a small portion of the tunnels, definitely geared towards the casual visitor and people new to WWI. Good place to visit during the summer, because the tunnels are very cold, temperature is a constant 7C, (about 44F). This tour can... More

Interesting journey by automatic buggy, glad I went back to collect a coat as it is so chilly down there ( sign outside said 7 degrees !! ). Unknown soldier story who now rests under Arc de Triomphe in Paris well presented.

Oh dear! You get your ticket then jump in to a computer controlled carriage with your individual headset on and off you go... the carriage stops and you are treated to the first of several mulitmedia projection presentations. Did you know that one of the French Generals in the Citadel has a Scouse accent??? :-( lets be frank, they have... More

Excellent ' ride ' thru WW1 Verdun . A bit tricky to find though but if you are staying in Verdun itself you can walk there . We went on a rainy afternoon and it's well worth taking some time to visit . Ride lasts about an hour and there is a nice little shop at the end

I thought the Citadelle Souterraine was worth visiting with an interesting presentation that is a big departure from most staid historical sites. While I was alone, I think this would have been something my teenagers would not have howled protest at doing. You ride around in a open car in an interior section of the citadel, seated in three rows... More
