The Place de la Comedie is a centraal open space in the centre of Montpellier where Christmas markets and other events occur.There are cafes and entertainment.

Even though it rained a lot while we were there it was a great place to have a meal or a drink and watch the world go by. There were market stall with shoes and clothes on the Saturday morning.

Just love to sit or stroll around this area, always something going on and something to watch, there are some nice bars here with outside seating to enjoy a coffee or a wine, it is nice to just sit and let the world go by.

Absolutely central to the heart of the city,head into the old town asap too many potential pickpockets lurking around for comfort. First get the little train,its cheap, shows you the old town in 40 mins and then explore the areas that you like for the rest of the day.

It's a beautiful area to walk around - all pedestrian - We were there during the Montpellier marathon - so a bit crazier with people. Buildings are lovely!

When you are staying in Montpellier, you will come across the Place de la Comedie sooner rather than later. And there is nothing wrong with that. excellent place to walk, little trafic around. Very pleasant to visit when it's sunny. Fabre museum on this place with lots of nice paintings to admire.

I imagine it would be crowded in the warmer months, but in February it was a pleasant way to while away the time. Plenty of bars and coffee shops

Place de la Comedie is the centre of Montpellier's historic quarter and a fantastic place to hang out.
