Excellent restoration of this ancient walled castle city. Plenty to see and the audio tour of the main citadel is well worth the few Euros more.Take a whole day to amble about. Loads of food areas both eat in and take away. Can get very crowded in high season.

Very interesting old fortress with plenty of shops and restaurants to chose from. It reminded me of something that Disney would have built except this one is for real.

IT's almost like stepping back 600 years. The reconstruction is great. If you can ignore the other tourists and some of the tacky shops it is a Great place to visit and I strongly recommend it

I found Carcassonne very disappointing. Considering its World Heritage Site status, the visitor might expect to learn something of the history of the place and get a feeling for the life the inhabitants might have experienced. Approaching the Cite from below is an awesome view, but the inside is a bit bland and way too touristy.
