The size of the palace is amazing. Walk through it and enjoy picturing what went on here during through the centuries. The gardens are so well maintained and so beautiful. It was crowded which was the only negative.
We visited on May 10th (an unofficial French BAnk Holiday) Not that they appeared to be any French in the queues (more sense)!! The train journey & purchasing the tickets (tourist office opposite Versailles train station) were simple enough, as was the 5 min walk to the entrance! We were advised to expect a 45 min queue to get through...

We left Paris on the RER C from Invalides at 7.48am, got to Versailles-Rive-Gauche Chateau at 8.18 and easily found our way to Versailles by 8.30am. (Map outside the station helps!)

The Palace Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors, the royal apartments, rooms depicting the history of Versailles, the awesome painted and decorated ceilings and finally the beautiful gardens...

You may be thinking to yourself that you have a limited time in Paris . . . and that your trip to Versailles will take up an entire day; perhaps too much time . . .
I wasn't particularly interested in spending an entire day in Versailles but it was on my wife's bucket list . . . how could...
