A visit to this church is a must as the dome, stained glass and interior is magnificent. But the view of Paris from the steps of the cathedral is the BEST. When we visited, there were 2 mimes painted white at either side of the steps who looked exactly like statues. Make sure to take notice.

Very beautiful church, though Notre Dame was more grand in my opinion. There are stairs up the hill where the church is located, and PLEASE TAKE NOTE that there are a lot of string bracelet scammers at the bottom stairs. They are a big group of African natives males who can be quite persistent (and extremely quick) in trying to... More

... which honestly impressed us more from the outside than the inside. Having said that, it is a wonderfully decorated and kept church but relatively young (19th century planning, opened in the early 20th century).

Lovely views and lovely church (no photos inside)...But, the biggest piece of advise is watch out for the "bracelet" scam. The presence of these men was ridiculous and when we visited several of them actually blocked the exits at the bottom of the stairs towards street level at both sides and we literally had to run past them to avoid... This is the only church I know where they have nuns singing, it sounds so angelic and calming. Definitely worth visiting if your are in the area. Beware of pickpockets though, we caught a group of 3 emptying out 2 purses they just snatched!

We recently visited Sacre Coeur church in Montmatre, Paris. We loved the quiet and respect afforded by visitors here, but what we enjoyed almost as much was the walk back through the streets and alleyways to the Opera, which we hadn't been to previously. We then continued zigzagging through the streets visiting lots of hidden treasures until we reached the... More

It's a must to visit the Sacre-Coeur in Paris. It's just amazing. Located on the hill of Montmartre. Very easy to reach with the Metro. Then a nice little walk uphill to the church. On the way to the hill, there are lots of souvenir shops, cafes and brasseries. You have to go inside, it's so impressive. The view from... More

We visited on a Sunday and this was amazing. There was a busker playing the harp outside on the stairs and inside mass was being conducted beautiful and we were lucky enough to hear the nun's singing in this holy place. The journey to the roof of the basilica is 330 steps in a tight circular staircase but the effort... More

We trekked our way up the hill which although reasonably high, isn't too exhausting. You do have to beat the hawkers off - amusingly there were 3 gendarmes at the bottom of the hill doing nothing. Although Sacré Coeur is not that old, it is a very imposing, beautiful church, again with great stained glass.
